Prayer changes things
As individuals and as a church, prayer is the lifeblood of a healthy relationship with Jesus and it is naturally at the heart of our life together. Whether you're a member of another church, friends and supporters from afar or have just stumbled upon this page, we would love you to commit regularly to praying for St Matthew's and more importantly for the city of Exeter.
“We tend to use prayer as a last resort, but God wants it to be our first line of defence. We pray when there’s nothing else we can do, but God wants us to pray before we do anything at all.” — Oswald Chambers
Praystation is a chance for the church to gather to worship and pray every week. We meet in the church on Thursdays between 9 and 10am (check What's On). Everyone is welcome.
Kingdom Come Prayer
Our next Kingdom Come Prayer event is 7th December 2017
Pray as you can throughout the day and meet in St Matthews Church at 7:30pm to worship, pray and share together. Our prayers really make a difference.
Pray for Spiritual Awakening, For God to pour out His Holy Spirit on us.
Jesus said 'If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink'.
May Your Kingdom to Come in our City
Pray for wisdom for our Councillors and those who serve us in local government. We ask your blessing on our hospitals, for staff coping with the growing demands of ever more patients and stretched resources. Our Police, Fire and Ambulance personnel. Thank you for all they do to keep our city safe.
May Your Kingdom Come in our workplaces
For those stressed in their work, help us to pray for your peace and to be that listening ear for them.
We pray for those who are desperately looking for work and need encouragement.
May Your Kingdom Come in our Schools
For Your name to be honoured. For enough funding, dedicated teachers and support staff to enable each child to fulfil their potential.
We pray for our church family at St Matthews to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.
